Clothed Croquis: C — As in Community

We go to the world of film for inspiration to draw after model in period clothes. This evening, a film about love, friendship, hash and rock ’n’ roll provides the dress style.

The film “G – som i gemenskap” (C — As in Community) takes place at the beginning of the summer during a few days that depict themselves quite differently for the three 16-year-old boys who are at the center of the action.

The film premiered in 1983 and was directed by Staffan Hildebrand. The press corps was not particularly impressed but the film still won a large audience and is today somewhat iconic for that time in Stockholm.

The clothes

Pastel-colored jackets, T-shirts, long locks and fluffy bangs rule. And the band plays in black shirts and white suspenders.

The costumes that the models wear during the evening’s croquis are selected to match the film’s clothing style. Artist Juha Nyberg leads the croquis (and gives tips and advice on technique and approach for those who so wish) and actress Lena Lövdahl presents the theme (in Swedish).

Material

You bring your own material and possibly an easel. Or you can buy a croquis drawing set in the store. But of course, it works just as well to draw digitally on a tablet!
