History of Old Town

Experience the story of the city; its history, rulers, inhabitants and architecture.

Old Town (Gamla Stan) is Stockholm’s original city centre. In the alleyways, 750 years of history blend together, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.

We visit places where important events took place and follow the winding cobblestone streets where colors, decorations and street names all tell about Stockholm’s history.
