Stockholm — 500 Years in 50 Minutes

Join us for a guided tour that takes you from King Gustav Vasa’s rise to power to the underground punk explosion of the late 1970s.

On this tour, you will discover the rich history and development of Stockholm from the 16th century to the present day. We will guide you through the museum’s main exhibition, taking a closer look at how the city has transformed over the centuries.

We begin with the Reformation and move swiftly through Sweden’s era as a European empire, the plague, industrialisation, and the expansion of the modern underground metro system.

Along the way, we will explore the key events that shaped the capital and reflect on what daily life was like for Stockholmers throughout history.
