Johan Helmich Roman, often called “the father of Swedish music”, captivates with his sophisticated harmonies and emotional expression. In 1744, his most famous work, “Drottningholm Music”, was performed at the wedding of Crown Prince Adolf Frederick and Lovisa Ulrika.
During the evening, you will hear both well-known pieces and some lesser-known gems by this Swedish genius.
Performers
Dan Laurin, flute
Dan Laurin is considered one of the most prominent living recorder players today. Many of his recordings for the BIS label (around 40 as a soloist) have become classics. He is currently a professor of flute at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
Anna Paradiso Laurin, harpsichord
Anna Paradiso Laurin has quickly established herself as a rising harpsichord star, performing at concerts worldwide and recording for the BIS label. As a duo, Dan and Anna have toured extensively around the world.
David Härenstam, guitar
Härenstam is known for his successful concerts. He has played in ensembles like Duo Sparf/Härenstam and Duo Härenstam/Weurlander. He has released internationally acclaimed albums and collaborated with musicians such as Bengt Forsberg and Andreas Brantelid. He tours globally and is the artistic director of In Between Music Festival and Stockholm Chamber Music.
