Stockholm is constantly evolving. The decades around the turn of the 20th century are particularly marked by renewal. During this time, Stockholm transitions from being a rural archipelago city to becoming a modern capital. The population doubles. Conflicts, unrest, and contradictions come to light. Many embrace the new, while others see something valuable being lost.

In the exhibition, you’ll experience this transformative period through hundreds of never-before-displayed objects, drawings, and photographs from the collections of the City Museum. In addition, there will be guided tours and lectures.
